As Founder and Past-President of the Middle East Society for Organ Transplantation (MESOT), and Founder and President of the Turkish Transplantation Society (TOND), and the Turkic World Transplantation Society (TDTD), it is my great honor and privilege to welcome you to the International Symposium on Living and Deceased Donor Recent Criteria that will take place as a hybrid meeting on May 5-6, 2022, at the Kizilcahamam Thermal Resort Hotel in Ankara, Turkey.
Organ shortage remains as the most significant challenge facing the field of organ transplantation today. Millions of people die and are buried with healthy organs, which could save lives of many patients. Unfortunately, we have serious shortage with deceased and living-related organ donation.
The Symposium will aim to discuss and review living and deceased donor selection criteria including the issues of the elderly donor, donated organs from donors with infections and cancer as well as relation to the donor. We will give special emphasize in the fields of infectious diseases, oncology and neurology in order to propose various strategies to expand donor pool in general and after an extraordinary period due to Covid-19.
We would like to welcome you to Ankara in person, but if the conditions do not permit, we would be equally pleased to meet you online and exchange ideas through Zoom technology.
I look forward to welcoming you all to our capital city, Ankara. I believe that it will be a fruitful meeting on a social and academic level.
